My Favourite Verse From Quran:
2:153 – O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. Allah is truly with those who are patient.
2:155 – We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure—
[Allah will test people with different types of hardships: some with fear of those who are against them; hunger because of lack of food; lack of money because of losing it or difficulty gaining it; loss of lives due to death from diseases and tragedies that kill people, or being martyred for the sake of Allah; and a lack of resources from the earth. Give good news, O Prophet, to those who are patient in the face of these hardships, of what will make them happy in this world and in the Afterlife.]
2:168 – O humanity! Eat from what is lawful and good on the earth and do not follow Satan’s footsteps. He is truly your sworn enemy.
[O people, eat from the vegetables and fruits of the earth which are lawful and good, and not harmful. Do not follow the actions of Satan and his evil whisperings: he is a clear enemy who is hostile to you – anyone with sense would not follow an enemy who wants to harm and mislead them.]
2:169 – He only incites you to commit evil and indecency, and to claim against Allah what you do not know.
2:177 – Righteousness is not in turning your faces towards the east or the west. Rather, the righteous are those who believe in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Books, and the prophets; who give charity out of their cherished wealth to relatives, orphans, the poor, ˹needy˺ travellers, beggars, and for freeing captives; who establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and keep the pledges they make; and who are patient in times of suffering, adversity, and in ˹the heat of˺ battle. It is they who are true ˹in faith˺, and it is they who are mindful ˹of Allah˺.
2:180 – It is prescribed that when death approaches any of you—if they leave something of value—a will should be made in favour of parents and immediate family with fairness.1 ˹This is˺ an obligation on those who are mindful ˹of Allah˺.
2:183- O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you—as it was for those before you1—so perhaps you will become mindful ˹of Allah˺.
[O you who have faith in Allah and follow His Prophet, Allah has ordered you to fast, as He ordered those before you, so that you may become mindful of Allah, protecting yourself from His punishment by doing good actions – fasting being one of the best of these.]
2:185- Ramaḍân is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the standard ˹to distinguish between right and wrong˺. So whoever is present this month, let them fast. But whoever is ill or on a journey, then ˹let them fast˺ an equal number of days ˹after Ramaḍân˺. Allah intends ease for you, not hardship, so that you may complete the prescribed period and proclaim the greatness of Allah for guiding you, and perhaps you will be grateful.
2:186-When My servants ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond ˹with obedience˺ to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided ˹to the Right Way˺.
3:28- Let not believers take disbelievers as allies [i.e., supporters or protectors] rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing [i.e., no association] with Allah, except when taking precaution against them in prudence.1 And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination.
[O believers, do not take disbelievers as friends that you love and support instead of other believers: whoever does this will never be helped by Allah in any way. However, if you are under their authority and you fear for your lives, then there is no harm if you avoid their harm by being nice to them in your speech and actions on the outside, whilst hating them inside. Allah warns you of Himself, so fear Him and do not become the subject of His anger by committing sins. All men will return to Allah alone on the Day of Resurrection for Him to reward them for their actions.]
[Self (my) Interpretation - This is not intelligence but stupidity if you mix (unite) rice and stone in your food. You must separate stone from rice. You must not mix/unite good and bad. We should utilities all our time in self correction i.e. removing impurities from self. You just need to enjoin believers (righteousness/goodness) and leave disbelievers (here disbelievers doesn't mean non-muslims but Satan/Lucifer/Daitya which is a source of Arrogance, Lust, Anger, Greed). By the judgement time there must be two separate sets - i.e. goodness and badness so that Allah can decide and treat them accordingly.]
2:263 - Kind words and forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury. And Allah is Self-Sufficient, Most Forbearing.
[A kind word that makes a believer happy or forgiveness of the one who is ill-mannered is better than charity followed by harm caused by reminding the person of the favour. Allah is in no need of His servants; and because He is tolerant with them, He does not often quickly punish.]
5:48- We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ this Book with the truth, as a confirmation of previous Scriptures and a supreme authority on them. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires over the truth that has come to you. To each of you We have ordained a code of law and a way of life. If Allah had willed, He would have made you one community, but His Will is to test you with what He has given ˹each of˺ you. So compete with one another in doing good. To Allah you will all return, then He will inform you ˹of the truth˺ regarding your differences.
[I sent down to you, O Messenger, the Qur’ān with the truth about which there is no doubt that it is from Allah. It is a confirmation and guardian for the revealed books that came before it. Whatever in those books conforms to it is the truth, and whatever does not is false. So judge between people according to what I have revealed to you in it and do not follow their desires which they have adopted in leaving the truth that has been revealed to you about which there is no doubt. I have made a sacred law and clear path for every nation. If I willed to make all the laws one, I would have done so. But I made a separate law for every nation in order to test them all and to see who follows and who does not. So rush towards doing good actions and leave evil ones. Your return on the Day of Judgement is to Me alone. I will inform you about that which you used to differ in and will repay you for the actions you did.]
5:67- O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.
7:199- Be gracious, enjoin what is right, and turn away from those who act ignorantly.
[Gracious (adj)- behaving in a pleasant, polite, calm way]
[Accept from people O Messenger what they are able to do, the actions and conduct that is easy for them, and do not require them to do things that are too difficult for them, because that will drive them away. Instruct them to speak in a beautiful way and to do good actions, and turn away from those who are foolish and do not face them in their ignorance, returning like for like. Whoever harms you, do not harm them; and whoever denies you something, do not deny them.]
7:200- If you are tempted by Satan, then seek refuge with Allah. Surely He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
[And If you feel that Satan is bringing you an evil suggestion or stopping you from doing good, then ask Allah for protection and seek refuge with Him. He hears whatever you say, and is aware of you when you seek protection, and He will protect you from him.]
7:201- Indeed, when Satan whispers to those mindful ˹of Allah˺, they remember ˹their Lord˺ then they start to see ˹things˺ clearly.
[Those who are mindful of Allah, following what He instructs and staying away from what He has prohibited, when an evil suggestion comes to them from Satan to do something wrong, they remember the might of Allah and His punishment for the wrongdoers and His reward for those who do good. They turn away from their disobedience, turning to Allah asking for forgiveness, so that they do the right thing, seeing clearly what they were doing wrong, and hold back from doing it.]
7:202- But the devils persistently plunge their ˹human˺ associates deeper into wickedness, sparing no effort.
[The brothers of the satans, who commit immorality and disbelieve, are drawn by the satans into greater error, committing sin after sin. They do not stop in their efforts: neither the satans with their misguidance nor those who are immoral and who follow them, committing evil.]
13:17 – [ He sends down rain from the sky, causing the valleys to flow, each according to its capacity. The currents then carry along rising foam, similar to the slag produced from metal that people melt in the fire for ornaments or tools. This is how Allah compares truth to falsehood. The ˹worthless˺ residue is then cast away, but what benefits people remains on the earth. This is how Allah sets forth parables. ]
[My interpretation: Once you are of no use to the earth. You will be removed from earth.
Lesson learnt: Be the one who keep contributing something good that benefit others, even something very good so that you remain alive in your contribution (output from your work) even if you left physically from this world.]
16:53 Whatever blessings you have are from Allah. Then whenever hardship touches you, to Him ˹alone˺ you cry ˹for help˺.
16:54 Then as soon as He removes the hardship from you, a group of you associates ˹others˺ with their Lord ˹in worship˺,
16:55 only returning Our favours with ingratitude. So enjoy yourselves, for you will soon know.
17:53 Tell My ˹believing˺ servants to say (speak) only what is best. Satan certainly seeks to sow discord among them. Satan is indeed a sworn enemy to humankind.
17:61 And ˹remember˺ when We said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam,” so they all did—but not Iblîs, who protested, “Should I prostrate to the one You have created from mud?”
17:62 Adding, “Do you see this one you honoured above me? If you delay my end until the Day of Judgment, I will certainly take hold of his descendants, except for a few.”
17:63 Allah responded, “Be gone! Whoever of them follows you, Hell will surely be the reward for all of you—an ample reward.
17:64 And incite whoever you can of them with your voice, mobilize against them all your cavalry and infantry, manipulate them in their wealth and children, and make them promises.” But Satan promises them nothing but delusion.
17:65 ˹Allah added,˺ “You will truly have no authority over My ˹faithful˺ servants.” And sufficient is your Lord as a Guardian.
17:66 It is your Lord Who steers the ships for you through the sea, so that you may seek His bounty. Surely He is ever Merciful to you.
17:67 When you are touched with hardship at sea, you ˹totally˺ forget all ˹the gods˺ you ˹normally˺ invoke, except Him. But when He delivers you ˹safely˺ to shore, you turn away. Humankind is ever ungrateful.
17:78 Observe the prayer from the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night and the dawn prayer, for certainly the dawn prayer is witnessed ˹by angels˺.
17:79 And rise at ˹the last˺ part of the night, offering additional prayers, so your Lord may raise you to a station of praise.
17:80 And say, “My Lord! Grant me an honourable entrance and an honourable exit and give me a supporting authority from Yourself.”
17:107 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Believe in this ˹Quran˺, or do not. Indeed, when it is recited to those who were gifted with knowledge before it ˹was revealed˺, they fall upon their faces in prostration,
17:110 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Compassionate—whichever you call, He has the Most Beautiful Names.” Do not recite your prayers too loudly or silently, but seek a way between.
18:23 And never say of anything, “I will definitely do this tomorrow,”
18:24 without adding, “if Allah so wills!” But if you forget, then remember your Lord, and say, “I trust my Lord will guide me to what is more right than this.”
18:27 Recite what has been revealed to you from the Book of your Lord. None can change His Words, nor can you find any refuge besides Him.
18:28 And patiently stick with those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His pleasure. Do not let your eyes look beyond them, desiring the luxuries of this worldly life. And do not obey those whose hearts We have made heedless of Our remembrance, who follow ˹only˺ their desires and whose state is ˹total˺ loss.
18:45 And give them a parable of this worldly life. ˹It is˺ like the plants of the earth, thriving when sustained by the rain We send down from the sky. Then they ˹soon˺ turn into chaff scattered by the wind. And Allah is fully capable of ˹doing˺ all things.
18:46 Wealth and children are the adornment of this worldly life, but the everlasting good deeds are far better with your Lord in reward and in hope.
18:47 ˹Beware of˺ the Day We will blow the mountains away, and you will see the earth laid bare. And We will gather all ˹humankind˺, leaving none behind.
21:30 Do the disbelievers not realize that the heavens and earth were ˹once˺ one mass then We split them apart? And We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
21:31 And We have placed firm mountains upon the earth so it does not shake with them, and made in it broad pathways so they may find their way.
21:35 Every soul will taste death. And We test you ˹O humanity˺ with good and evil as a trial, then to Us you will ˹all˺ be returned.
24:35- Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His light1 is like a niche in which there is a lamp, the lamp is in a crystal, the crystal is like a shining star, lit from ˹the oil of˺ a blessed olive tree, ˹located˺ neither to the east nor the west,2 whose oil would almost glow, even without being touched by fire. Light upon light! Allah guides whoever He wills to His light. And Allah sets forth parables for humanity. For Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things.
24:36- ˹That light shines˺ through houses ˹of worship˺ which Allah has ordered to be raised, and where His Name is mentioned. He is glorified there morning and evening
24:37- by men who are not distracted—either by buying or selling—from Allah’s remembrance, or performing prayer, or paying alms-tax. They fear a Day when hearts and eyes will tremble,
25:63- The ˹true˺ servants of the Most Compassionate are those who walk on the earth humbly, and when the foolish address them ˹improperly˺, they only respond with peace.
25:64- ˹They are˺ those who spend ˹a good portion of˺ the night, prostrating themselves and standing before their Lord.
25:67- ˹They are˺ those who spend neither wastefully nor stingily, but moderately in between
[They are those whom when they spend their wealth do not go to the limit of extravagance in their spending, nor do they restrict their spending to only those whom they have to spend on such as themselves and others, but their spending is balanced between wastefulness and niggardliness.]
[Self interpretation- Don’t get attached to your money. Don’t think that it’s yours but God gave you this to fulfil “basic needs” “of those in need” specially those you are directly or indirectly connected to – such as family, relative, neighbors and other needy.]
27:11 - ˹Fear is˺ only for those who do wrong. But if they later mend ˹their˺ evil ˹ways˺ with good, then I am certainly All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
28:54-These ˹believers˺ will be given a double reward for their perseverance, responding to evil with good, and for donating from what We have provided for them.
[perseverance (noun) – continued effort and determination]
28:55- When they hear slanderous talk, they turn away from it, saying, “We are accountable for our deeds and you for yours. Peace ˹is our only response˺ to you! We want nothing to do with those who act ignorantly.”
[slanderous (adj) – false and damaging to someone’s reputation]
28:56- You surely cannot guide whoever you like ˹O Prophet˺, but it is Allah Who guides whoever He wills, and He knows best who are ˹fit to be˺ guided.
28:60- Whatever ˹pleasure˺ you have been given is no more than ˹a fleeting˺ enjoyment and adornment of this worldly life. But what is with Allah is far better and more lasting. Will you not then understand?
28:61- Can those to whom We have made a fine promise—which they will see fulfilled—be like those who We have allowed to enjoy the pleasures of this worldly life, but on the Day of Judgment will be brought ˹for punishment˺?
28:83- That ˹eternal˺ Home in the Hereafter We reserve ˹only˺ for those who seek neither tyranny nor corruption on the earth. The ultimate outcome belongs ˹only˺ to the righteous.
[Tyranny (noun) – A tyranny is a cruel, harsh, and unfair government in which a person or small group of people have power over everyone else]
28:84- Whoever comes with a good deed will be rewarded with what is better. And whoever comes with an evil deed, then the evildoers will only be rewarded for what they used to do.
28:86- You never expected this Book to be revealed to you, but ˹it came˺ only ˹as˺ a mercy from your Lord. So never side with the disbelievers ˹in their disbelief˺.
28:87- Do not let them turn you away from the revelations of Allah after they have been sent down to you. Rather, invite ˹all˺ to ˹the Way of˺ your Lord, and never be one of the polytheists.
28:88- And do not invoke any other god with Allah. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. Everything is bound to perish except He Himself.1 All authority belongs to Him. And to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned.
29:2- Do people think once they say, “We believe,” that they will be left without being put to the test?
29:3- We certainly tested those before them. And ˹in this way˺ Allah will clearly distinguish between those who are truthful and those who are liars.
29:4- Or do the evildoers ˹simply˺ think that they will escape Us? How wrong is their judgment!
29:5- Whoever hopes for the meeting with Allah, ˹let them know that˺ Allah’s appointed time is sure to come. He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
29:6- And whoever strives ˹in Allah’s cause˺, only does so for their own good. Surely Allah is not in need of ˹any of˺ His creation.
29:7- As for those who believe and do good, We will certainly absolve them of their sins, and reward them according to the best of what they used to do.
29:8- We have commanded people to honour their parents. But if they urge you to associate with Me what you have no knowledge of,1 then do not obey them. To Me you will ˹all˺ return, and then I will inform you of what you used to do.
29:9- Those who believe and do good will surely be admitted by Us into ˹the company of˺ the righteous.
29:10- There are some who say, “We believe in Allah,” but when they suffer in the cause of Allah, they mistake ˹this˺ persecution at the hands of people for the punishment of Allah. But when victory comes from your Lord, they surely say ˹to the believers˺, “We have always been with you.” Does Allah not know best what is in the hearts of all beings?
[Amongst people is he who says: “I brought faith in Allah”. But when the disbelievers afflict him with harm due to his faith, he considers their torture the punishment of Allah, hence he renounces faith to conform with the disbelievers. And if you achieve help from your Lord, O Messenger, they will say: “We are with you in faith, O believers”. Does Allah not know best what is in the hearts of people, nothing of disbelief and faith they contain being hidden from Him? So how do you inform Allah of what is in their hearts when He knows better than them what they contain?]
[Renounce (v) – to say formally or publicly that you no longer own, support, believe in, or have a connection with something.
Conform (v) – to behave according to the usual standards of behaviour that are expected by a group or society]
29:11- Allah will certainly distinguish between those who have ˹sure˺ faith and the hypocrites.
29:20- Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Travel throughout the land and see how He originated the creation, then Allah will bring it into being one more time. Surely Allah is Most Capable of everything.
29:45- Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, ˹genuine˺ prayer should deter ˹one˺ from indecency and wickedness. The remembrance of Allah is ˹an˺ even greater ˹deterrent˺. And Allah ˹fully˺ knows what you ˹all˺ do.
[Deter (v) – to prevent someone from doing something or to make someone less enthusiastic about doing something]
29:64- This worldly life is no more than play and amusement. But the Hereafter is indeed the real life, if only they knew.
29:65- If they happen to be aboard a ship ˹caught in a storm˺, they cry out to Allah ˹alone˺ in sincere devotion. But as soon as He delivers them ˹safely˺ to shore, they associate ˹others with Him once again˺.
30:20- One of His signs is that He created you from dust, then—behold!—you are human beings spreading over ˹the earth˺.
[From among the great signs of Allah which prove His power and oneness, is that He created you – O people! – from earth when He created your father from clay, then you soon became many humans increasing through reproduction, and spreading over the earth’s east and west.]
30:21- And one of His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find comfort in them. And He has placed between you compassion and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect.
30:22- And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colours. Surely in this are signs for those of ˹sound˺ knowledge.
30:23- And one of His signs is your sleep by night and by day ˹for rest˺ as well as your seeking His bounty ˹in both˺. Surely in this are signs for people who listen.
30:24- And one of His signs is that He shows you lightning, inspiring ˹you with˺ hope and fear.1 And He sends down rain from the sky, reviving the earth after its death. Surely in this are signs for people who understand.
30:30- So be steadfast in faith in all uprightness ˹O Prophet˺—the natural Way of Allah which He has instilled in ˹all˺ people. Let there be no change in this creation of Allah. That is the Straight Way, but most people do not know.
[uprightness (n) – the quality of being honest, responsible, and moral]
30:31- ˹O believers!˺ Always turn to Him ˹in repentance˺, be mindful of Him, and establish prayers. And do not be polytheists—
30:32- ˹like˺ those who have divided their faith and split into sects, each rejoicing in what they have.
31:14- And We have commanded people to ˹honour˺ their parents. Their mothers bore them through hardship upon hardship, and their weaning takes two years. So be grateful to Me and your parents. To Me is the final return.
31:15- But if they pressure you to associate with Me what you have no knowledge of,1 do not obey them. Still keep their company in this world courteously, and follow the way of those who turn to Me ˹in devotion˺. Then to Me you will ˹all˺ return, and then I will inform you of what you used to do.
[courteously (adv) – in a way that is polite and shows respect]
31:17- “O my dear son! Establish prayer, encourage what is good and forbid what is evil, and endure patiently whatever befalls you. Surely this is a resolve to aspire to.
[aspire (v) - to want something very much or hope to achieve something or be successful]
[O my son! Establish the prayer by performing it to perfection; enjoin good and forbid evil, and bear patience upon whatever adversity you face in the process. Indeed, my instructions to you are from those that Allah has decided you should do, so you have no choice in doing or not doing them.]
31:18- “And do not turn your nose up to people, nor walk pridefully upon the earth. Surely Allah does not like whoever is arrogant, boastful.
[Do not turn your face away from the people in arrogance (یعنی لوگوں سے بےرخی اور غرور وتکبر کی روش مت اختیار کرو), and do not walk over the earth haughty (unfriendly and seeming to consider yourself better than other people) and proud (praising yourself and what you have done); indeed Allah does not love any of those who are haughty in their manner of walking, or arrogant in whatever blessings they are granted and ungrateful for. Rather, He hates them.]
31:19- Be moderate in your pace. And lower your voice, for the ugliest of all voices is certainly the braying of donkeys.”
[Be moderate in your manner of walking: between hastiness and lethargy, displaying dignity. And lower your voice; do not raise it such that it causes inconvenience. Indeed, the most hideous of sounds is that of the donkey because of them being loud.]
[My interpretation: here the “pace” is meant for any step you take and is not limited for walking on foot but for even any thought and action.]
["He (Prophet Muhammad) was always cheerful, naturally obliging, gentle. Neither impolite, nor rude, he was not clamorous or immodest and no faultfinder and no miser. He would remain indifferent to what he did not like, yet would not make others become distracted from it (if halal and desirable to have) and would not say anything that would stop others from having what he did not want (instead, would observe silence). There were three things he had left out for good: (1) Disputation, (2) Arrogance and (3) Indulgence with what was unnecessary, not worth doing.]
32:6- That is the Knower of the seen and unseen—the Almighty, Most Merciful,
32:7- Who has perfected everything He created. And He originated the creation of humankind from clay.
32:8- Then He made his descendants from an extract of a humble fluid,
32:9- then He fashioned them and had a spirit of His Own ˹creation˺ breathed into them. And He gave you hearing, sight, and intellect. ˹Yet˺ you hardly give any thanks.
32:22- And who does more wrong than the one who is reminded of Allah’s revelations then turns away from them? We will surely inflict punishment upon the wicked.
33:2- O Prophet! ˹Always˺ be mindful of Allah, and do not yield to the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
[yield to sth (phrasal verb) – to agree to do something that you do not want to do or should not do]
33:4- Allah does not place two hearts in any person’s chest. Nor does He regard your wives as ˹unlawful for you like˺ your real mothers, ˹even˺ if you say they are.1 Nor does He regard your adopted children as your real children.2 These are only your baseless assertions. But Allah declares the truth, and He ˹alone˺ guides to the ˹Right˺ Way.
[Just as Allah has not placed two hearts in the chest of any man, as some of them believe, likewise He did not make wives like mothers with respect to being forbidden to marry, and likewise He did not make claimed sons like biological sons, because thihar which is for a man to make his wife unlawful for himself, and likewise, claiming the children of others as one’s own are practices of ignorance which Islam has nullified. That making unlawful through thihar and taking as sons those whose fathers you are not is a statement you repeat with your mouths, which has no reality. The wife is not a mother nor is the claimed son rightfully for the claimant. And Allah says the truth so that His servants practice it, and He guides towards the path of truth.]
34:40- And ˹consider˺ the Day He will gather them all together, and then ask the angels, “Was it you that these ˹polytheists˺ used to worship?”
34:41 - They will say, “Glory be to You! Our loyalty is to You, not them. In fact, they ˹only˺ followed the ˹temptations of evil˺ jinn,1 in whom most of them had faith.”
[The angels will say: “You are pure and exalted. You are our guardian, not them, so there is no friendship between us and them, but rather these idolaters used to worship the satans. They used to appear to them as angels, so they would worship them besides Allah, most of them were believers in them”.]
35:5- O humanity! Indeed, Allah’s promise is true. So do not let the life of this world deceive you, nor let the Chief Deceiver1 deceive you about Allah.
[O people, the resurrection and recompense on the day of judgment which Allah has promised you are true without a doubt, so the pleasures of the worldly life and its desires should not deceive you from preparing for this day through good actions, nor should the Satan deceive you by his adornment of falsehood and by inciting you to incline towards the worldly life.]
35:6- Surely Satan is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy. He only invites his followers to become inmates of the Blaze.
36:77- Do people not see that We have created them from a sperm-drop, then—behold!—they openly challenge ˹Us˺?
36:80- ˹He is the One˺ Who gives you fire from green trees, and—behold!—you kindle ˹fire˺ from them.
36:81- Can the One Who created the heavens and the earth not ˹easily˺ resurrect these ˹deniers˺?” Yes ˹He can˺! For He is the Master Creator, All-Knowing.
36:82- All it takes, when He wills something ˹to be˺, is simply to say to it: “Be!” And it is!
36:83- So glory be to the One in Whose Hands is the authority over all things, and to Whom ˹alone˺ you will ˹all˺ be returned.
41:34- Good and evil cannot be equal. Respond ˹to evil˺ with what is best, then the one you are in a feud with will be like a close friend.
41:35- But this cannot be attained except by those who are patient and who are truly fortunate.
[Only those who are patient upon harm caused to them and difficulties they face from the people, are given the ability to display this praiseworthy character. Only those who are extremely fortunate are granted the ability to do it, because of the abundant goodness and immense benefit there is in it.]
41:36- And if you are tempted by Satan, then seek refuge with Allah. Indeed, He ˹alone˺ is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
43:37- Indeed, these satan companions who have been set upon those who turn away from the Qur’ān, prevent them from the religion of Allah. They are unable to fulfil His commands and refrain from things He has not allowed; they think that they are guided to the truth and so they do not repent from their deviance.
44:38- We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything in between for sport.
44:39- We only created them for a purpose, but most of these ˹pagans˺ do not know.
45:14- ˹O Prophet!˺ Tell the believers to forgive those who do not fear Allah’s days ˹of torment˺, so that He will reward each group for what they used to commit.
45:15- Whoever does good, it is to their own benefit. And whoever does evil, it is to their own loss. Then to your Lord you will ˹all˺ be returned.
45:18- Now We have set you ˹O Prophet˺ on the ˹clear˺ Way of faith. So follow it, and do not follow the desires of those who do not know ˹the truth˺.
45:19- They certainly can be of no benefit to you against Allah whatsoever. Surely the wrongdoers are patrons of each other, whereas Allah is the Patron of the righteous.
45:20- This ˹Quran˺ is an insight for humanity—a guide and mercy for people of sure faith.
49:6- O believers, if an evildoer brings you any news, verify ˹it˺ so you do not harm people unknowingly, becoming regretful for what you have done.
49:12- O believers! Avoid many suspicions, ˹for˺ indeed, some suspicions are sinful. And do not spy, nor backbite one another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of their dead brother? You would despise that!1 And fear Allah. Surely Allah is ˹the˺ Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.
50:16- Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ created humankind and ˹fully˺ know what their souls whisper to them, and We are closer to them than ˹their˺ jugular vein.
[My interpretation - their souls might refer to the nafs]
50:17- As the two recording-angels—˹one˺ sitting to the right, and ˹the other to˺ the left—note ˹everything˺,
50:18- not a word does a person utter without having a ˹vigilant˺ observer ready ˹to write it down˺.
50:19- ˹Ultimately,˺ with the throes of death will come the truth.1 This is what you were trying to escape!
50:20- And the Trumpet will be blown.1 This is the Day ˹you were˺ warned of.
50:21- Each soul will come forth with an angel to drive it and another to testify.
[And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness. Each soul will come with an angel driving it, and an angel testifying against it for its deeds.]
50:22- ˹It will be said to the denier,˺ “You were totally heedless of this. Now We have lifted this veil of yours, so Today your sight is sharp!”
50:23- And one’s accompanying-angel will say, “Here is the record ready with me.”
50:24- ˹It will be said to both angels,˺ “Throw into Hell every stubborn disbeliever,
50:25- withholder of good, transgressor, and doubter,
50:26- who set up another god with Allah. So cast them into the severe punishment.”
50:27- One’s ˹devilish˺ associate will say, “Our Lord! I did not make them transgress. Rather, they were far astray ˹on their own˺.”
50:28- Allah will respond, “Do not dispute in My presence, since I had already given you a warning.
50:29- My Word cannot be changed,1 nor am I unjust to ˹My˺ creation.”
50:30- ˹Beware of˺ the Day We will ask Hell, “Are you full ˹yet˺?” And it will respond, “Are there any more?”
50:31- And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far off.
50:32- ˹And it will be said to them,˺ “This is what you were promised, for whoever ˹constantly˺ turned ˹to Allah˺ and kept up ˹His commandments˺—
50:33- who were in awe of the Most Compassionate without seeing ˹Him˺,1 and have come with a heart turning ˹only to Him˺.
51:15- Indeed, the righteous will be amid Gardens and springs,
51:16- ˹joyfully˺ receiving what their Lord will grant them. Before this ˹reward˺ they were truly good-doers ˹in the world˺:
51:17- they used to sleep only little in the night,
51:18- and pray for forgiveness before dawn.
51:19- And in their wealth there was a rightful share ˹fulfilled˺ for the beggar and the poor.
51:20- There are ˹countless˺ signs on earth for those with sure faith,
51:21- as there are within yourselves. Can you not see?
51:24- Has the story of Abraham’s honoured guests reached you ˹O Prophet˺?
51:25- ˹Remember˺ when they entered his presence and greeted ˹him with˺, “Peace!” He replied, “Peace ˹be upon you˺!” ˹Then he said to himself,˺ “˹These are˺ an unfamiliar people.”
51:26- Then he slipped off to his family and brought a fat ˹roasted˺ calf
51:47- We built the universe with ˹great˺ might, and We are certainly expanding ˹it˺.
51:50- So ˹proclaim, O Prophet˺: “Flee to Allah! I am truly sent by Him with a clear warning to you.
51:51- And do not set up another god with Allah. I am truly sent by Him with a clear warning to you.”
51:52- Similarly, no messenger came to those before them without being told: “A magician or a madman!”
60:1- O believers! Do not take My enemies and yours as trusted allies, showing them affection even though they deny what has come to you of the truth. They drove the Messenger and yourselves out ˹of Mecca˺, simply for your belief in Allah, your Lord. If you ˹truly˺ emigrated1 to struggle in My cause and seek My pleasure, ˹then do not take them as allies,˺ disclosing secrets ˹of the believers˺ to the pagans out of affection for them, when I know best whatever you conceal and whatever you reveal. And whoever of you does this has truly strayed from the Right Way.
60:2- If they gain the upper hand over you, they would be your ˹open˺ enemies, unleashing their hands and tongues to harm you, and wishing that you would abandon faith.
60:8- Allah does not forbid you from dealing kindly and fairly with those who have neither fought nor driven you out of your homes. Surely Allah loves those who are fair.
60:9- Allah only forbids you from befriending those who have fought you for ˹your˺ faith, driven you out of your homes, or supported ˹others˺ in doing so. And whoever takes them as friends, then it is they who are the ˹true˺ wrongdoers.
60:13- O believers! Do not ally yourselves with a people Allah is displeased with. They already have no hope for the Hereafter, just like the disbelievers lying in ˹their˺ graves.
63:9- O believers! Do not let your wealth or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. For whoever does so, it is they who are the ˹true˺ losers.
64:16- So be mindful of Allah to the best of your ability, hear and obey, and spend in charity—that will be best for you. And whoever is saved from the selfishness of their own souls, it is they who are ˹truly˺ successful.
64:17- If you lend to Allah a good loan, He will multiply it for you and forgive you. For Allah is Most Appreciative, Most Forbearing.
[If you give Allah a good loan, by spending your wealth in His path, He will multiply the reward for you by making each good deed equal to ten of its like, up until seven hundred times or even more, and He will overlook your sins. Allah is Appreciative and gives huge reward for little action, and He is Forbearing and does not rush to punish.]
66:9- O Prophet! Struggle against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be firm with them. Hell will be their home. What an evil destination!
94:1- Have We not uplifted your heart for you ˹O Prophet˺,
[Verily, Allah has opened up your heart for you and made receiving revelation beloved to you.]
94:2- relieved you of the burden
[And I have removed sin from you.]
94:3- which weighed so heavily on your back,
[That which was burdening you to the extent that it almost broke your back.]
94:4- And raised high for you your repute.
[And I elevated for you your mention, so you are now remembered in the call to prayer, and the call preceding the prayer, and at other times.]
94:5- So, surely with hardship comes ease.
[Indeed, with difficulty and constraint, comes ease and options.]
94:6- Surely with ˹that˺ hardship comes ˹more˺ ease.
[Indeed, with difficulty and constraint, comes ease and options; when you know that well, the troubling of your people will not terrify you and will not stop you from calling towards Allah.]
94:7- So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
[So when you finish your work and complete it, strive in the worship of your Lord.]
94:8- turning to your Lord ˹alone˺ with hope.
[And divert your passion and resolve towards Allah alone.]
